Simplestream Powers Sony One’s Expansion into Latin America, in collaboration with Bitmovin

LONDON, 04/04/2025 --- Sony One – the new platform offering a wide selectionof content from Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) library - has chosen to power the expansion of its video-on-demand service in Latin America using an integrated solution from Simplestream, in collaboration with its trusted partner, Bitmovin.

Leveraging Simplestream’s award winning Media Manager and App Platform products, the Sony One platform, which was launched in strategic cooperation with local companies for their customers, has broadened its reach to Argentina, giving viewers access to the extensive SPE catalogue of family favorites, such asMen in Black, the Spider Man movies, Peter Rabbit and Jumanji. Through this collaboration, Sony One aims to solidify its presence with local companies in Latin America with a focus on mobile and connected TVs, where demand for digital content continues to grow rapidly.

Sony One has selected a comprehensive end-to-end service from Simplestream to increase the distribution of its premium content across multiple devices, including Android, iOS, LG, Samsung and web platforms.  Simplestream’s servicefor Sony One also includes integration with Bitmovin’s Player which includes support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) feature, along with third-party authentication, payment gateways, video streaming workflows and real-time analytics.

The Simplestream platform supports multilingual content, allowing Sony One to ingest and display content in English, Spanish and Portuguese simultaneously. DRM is handled via the common encryption CENC scheme.
